Pádraig Kenny, in conjunction with Peter Brady, Environmental Awareness Officer with Meath County Council, conducted a workshop on various types of energy on November 27th 2013. He particularly focused on Wind Energy but also introduced other types of renewable energies.

Practical examples of wind turbines and the relationship between heat and energy were explored.
The Hydrogen Fuel Cell car was particularly interesting
Many thanks to Pádraig and to Meath County Council for their continued interest and support in our endeavours to keep this planet beautiful – our motto remains – Stay Clean, Go Green!

On 29th November, unfortunately a cold, dark, damp day, we held our Energy Awareness day: no energy was used in the school that day apart from the bulb in the fish tank! We realised how much we use our laptops, photocopier, kettle, laminator, oven, microwave, juicer, CD player, shredder, not to mention the lack of light and heating. We certainly now appreciate how much energy we use and possibly how we can use even less – e.g.we don’t need lights on when the CD player is on. It is certainly an interesting exercise and we will have an energy free day each term. Try it at home!
