Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!

As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.

We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.

Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

Life in our Lakes and Sea (5th and 6th)

Life in our Lakes and Seas

In Science, we studied some of the life in our lakes and seas including the life cycle of the salmon. Children researched an animal of choice and displayed their research in a fact file. In Art, we looked at the form of the common starfish. We made sketches to start and then we used clay to make the 3D form of our sketches. They turned out brilliantly. Well done 5th and 6th.

The Normans (5th and 6th)

The Normans

The children in 5th and 6th created either a motte and bailey or a tower house castle. They presented their projects and we invited other classes to see their fantastic creations. Norman helmets were also made in Art class.

China (1st and 2nd)

We were learning all about China during the month of January.

The children made some fantastic projects on the country and they got the opportunity to showcase their work to the other classes in the school.

We decided to sample some of the food from China so we cooked a yummy curry and all the children helped prepare and cook the food. There were empty plates all round, including in the staffroom!!
