Science Week (5th and 6th)

5th and 6th class students were busy experimenting and investigating during Science Week 2022. They made hokey pokey, saw raisins dance and presented projects on some of the most famous scientists in history.

Science Week 2022

We had a busy Science Week this year. We experimented with bicarbonate of soda by making honeycomb and by making raisins dance. Children researched a fantastic range of scientists and we ended our week with a visit to Oldcastle Library. Here we took part in a science workshop created by the Rediscovery Centre. Big thanks to them for having us. We’d a great time.

Science Week (1st and 2nd)

Materials and change: Our 1st and 2nd class students were busy making playdough during Science Week. They mixed all the different ingredients and added their own colours. Well done everyone!

Science (3rd and 4th)

As part of Science Week we carried out an experiment to see how balance is important and how we use it every day, without even thinking about it. Our challenge was to pick up a €2 coin off the ground. Sounds simple right? Wrong! We had to have our backs to the wall and could not bend our knees. The wall prevented us from counter balancing as we bent forward and so it was nearly impossible to pick up the coin. Well done Suzanne, who defied the laws of physics and managed to claim the €2 without falling forward.
