It was wonderful to welcome back the famous ecologist, Dale Treadwell, to St. Fiach’s recently. Dale brings great enthusiasm to his workshops and they are most enjoyable. On this occasion Dale explored the world of dinosaurs with the children. He had some fabulous videos to show how the dinosaurs lived and behaved. He also showed the children that all the continents on earth can fit together as one gigantic continent, just as it was millions of years ago. He also showed the infant classes some of his creepy crawlies! Thank you very much Dale for your visit and for bringing Benjo!

Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!
As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.
We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.
Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.
Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

Children of the Digital Age – Internet Safety
Internet Safety is very important to us at St. Fiach’s NS. In this Digital Age, more and more children are gaining unrestricted access to digital devices. Children of the Digital Age provide presentations to school children and their parents to educate them on internet usage. We would like to thank James Neary who facilitated the presentation to our children and parents. It was a very worthwhile and engaging day and we hope that everyone is more aware of the potential dangers of internet usage.
Science Week 2016
Another important week on the St. Fiach’s calendar is Science Week (Nov 13th-20th 2016). We had an action packed week that included a visit to Oldcastle Library for a science workshop, many in-class experiments and a visit from an environmental scientist, Robin Barry.

Visit from Robin Barry – Environmental Scientist
To round of Science Week 2016, we had the pleasure of welcoming Robin Barry to our school. Robin is a leading environmental scientist with a key interest in biodiversity. He brought his BeeWise campaign to the school which highlights the importance of pollinators (especially bees) in our environment. He also had a wonderful display of butterflies, moths and insects for the children to observe. The children had a wonderful insight into the importance of biodiversity. Thank you Robin for sharing your knowledge!
Science Workshop – Oldcastle Library
4th – 6th classes Science Workshop with Michael Moynihan in Oldcastle Library Science week started off with a visit to Oldcastle Library where Michael Moynihan carried out lots of wonderful and engaging science experiments with the children. He covered a range of topics including electricity, sound, materials and gases, heat and light. The children had a great time taking part. Thank you Michael.
