Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!
As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.
We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.
Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.
Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

The Eye (5th and 6th)
Science Week 2023
We’ve been looking at the parts of the eye and their functions. We created thaumatropes and spinning tops to show how our brain keeps an image for a moment and overlaps it with another when it changes quickly. The thaumatropes created a short animation and the spinning tops created a new colour. We looked at separating colours too. We noticed that black and brown are made up of many different colours but our primary colours (blue, red and yellow) stayed the same. The class also took part in the Bebras Challenge 2023 on our laptops.
Cycle Right Programme
The Cycle Right Programme has started for 5th and 6th class. During this programme, the children will learn the cycling skills necessary for cycling safely on the roads. By week 5 and 6, the children will be ready for road. Well done all!

Cavan Civil Defence Visit (1st and 2nd)
We have been learning about people who help us in our community so we were very lucky to have the ambulance crew come into school to visit and show us how it is done. Iarlaith and Molly were our sick patients in the ambulance and we learned how they would be cared for. It was a great lesson and we are very thankful to Mark the paramedic and Tommy who works for the Civil Defence.
