Our children were busy writing and drawing pictures for Santa’s special post box. Thanks to Claire from An Post for the collection!

Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!
As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.
We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.
Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.
Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

Our 6th class students have been busy doing an autumn clean up around the school gardens.

Special thanks to Marie Finn for teaching yoga to our children over the last 4 Wednesdays. They really enjoyed the experience. Hopefully we can all use the relaxation techniques in the future! Thanks to the Parents Association for funding the lessons. Míle buíochas!

Thanks to Mr. McHugh for organising this month’s assembly. There were some lovely tin-whistle performances on show. Comhairgeadeas le Gaeilgeoirí na Míosa. Rinne siad an-iarracht lena gcuid Gaeilge i rith i Mí Samhain. Maith sibh agus leanaigí ar aghaidh.

We had another very enjoyable Science Week at St. Fiach’s. Our students were busy investigating, experimenting and analysing through lots of interesting activities.
Thanks to Meath Library Service for organising online workshops and webinars.
Infants: Mrs. Glynn’s infants were busy making smoothies! They also investigated what materials are attracted to magnets.
1st and 2nd Class: We tried some blindfolded fruit tasting. We experienced plenty of different tastes on our taste buds! We also investigated how human and animal teeth work. We also watched a biodiversity workshop video.
3rd and 4th Class: We did the ‘Dancing raisins’ experiment which shows how Co2 bubbles raise the raisins. We also investigated gravity as a force.
5th and 6th Class: Science Week in 5th and 6th class was based on our brains, memory and light. We spoke about short term and long term memory, the persistence of vision and the sensory after effect. We looked at skills to help us develop our memory. We had great fun making thaumatropes (a toy that works on the persistence of vision) and flip books. This then led on to learning about light refraction and the colours of white light. The children really enjoyed creating their Newton’s Disc and they were fascinated with the results.
