Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!

As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.

We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.

Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

A Champion Visit – Meath U17s

What a fantastic surprise on a Monday morning to have the U17 Leinster and All-Ireland cups visit St. Fiach’s. Thanks to our past pupils and Meath U17 panel members, Dylan and Luke, for bringing in the cups and sharing their journey with the children. Maith sibh buachaillí!

Science – Plants (5th and 6th)

In Science over the last while we’ve been looking to nature.

We’ve looked at the different parts of the plants and their functions. We watched how the petals of the daisy changed colour as the water travelled up its stem to the petals.

We’ve learned about the division, cutting and pruning of plants by using a basil plant. Why not try it with your basil plant at home?

The children had great fun making their own blackberry jam. Here we spoke about the changes in state that occurred during the process and the end result was delicious.

Maths Week 2021

Well done to all our students for their participation during Maths Week 2021. We had plenty of activities including: Guess the number of Jelly Beans, online #MathsWeek events and maths trails.

During Maths Week, the children of 5th and 6th class had great fun working together to solve problems. From problems created by the PACT team in NUI Maynooth to cracking the code of the Escape Room activities. We even got a little creative with Tangrams and the construction of spooky haunted houses. A great week had by all.

PE – Athletics

Our 1st and 2nd class students are partaking in the Athletics strand of the PE curriculum. Thanks to St. Brigid’s Athletic Club for allowing us the use of their fabulous new facilities. Well done to all concerned for the realisation of this project!
