Comhairgeadeas lena Gaeilgeoir na Míosa. Rinne siad an-iarracht lena gcuid Gaeilge i rith Meán Fómhair. Maith sibh agus lean ar aghaigh! Well done to all our students who achieved awards in their various sports and social clubs.

Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!
As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.
We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.
Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.
Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

We had a very special visit from the Irish Army Band on Friday, September 27th. They played some very familiar songs and our children had great fun joining in. The children were also introduced to all the instrument families; woodwind, percussion and brass. Some children even got to conduct! Well done to Shauna who played a solo on her accordion. Special thanks to Clara and the PA for organising the wonderful event and for the refreshments afterwards. Go raibh maith agaibh!

National Fitness Day was held last Thursday at St. Fiach’s. We were very active on the day and took part in many fun activities including volleyball, skipping, basketball and soccer. Each class ran around the school for one minute. We ran a total of 386 laps! Everyone also took part in a ‘Skip for a minute’ competition. We had a total of 1312 skips.
Our children also took part in ‘Take on the Teachers’ in basketball and penalty shoot-outs. The teachers had their porridge that morning and came out victorious!

Our senior classes had a wonderful time in the Community Centre today.
Mr. Séamus Smith and Mr. Tommy Tuite presented a talk on The Ballinacree Banner, local mills and local farming practices. The talk was followed by a wonderful PowerPoint featuring lots of photos from years gone by. Mr. Tuite had a number of old farm tools which he showed us how to use: butter churn, a drag, a corn scythe; amongst other artefacts. The children also had a tour of the Heritage Room.
Mrs. Rita Briody and Mrs. Brigid Heery provided delicious home-bakes and juice for refreshments. Special thanks to everyone all involved!

We are currently taking part in the Meath County Council Writer-in-Schools residency. Special thanks to Oisín McGann for sharing his expertise with us. We are looking forward to the rest of the programme.
