We celebrated our annual World Book Day on March 3rd. Once again the children made a spectacular effort with their costumes. From Harry Potter to Snow White, we had a wonderful display of literary characters. Maith sibh!

Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!
As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.
We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.
Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.
Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

GAA – Handball 2016
At St. Fiach’s NS we are open to experimenting with all types of sports and games. 1st and 2nd classes were introduced to GAA handball recently. Thanks to Mr. Clarke for sharing his expertise with the children. Unfortunately we don’t have an official handball alley so we had to improvise! Well done to all the children who took part in the mini competition.

Máirt na hInide – Pancake Tuesday 2016
Tuesday, February 9th wasn’t just any ordinary Tuesday at St. Fiach’s! Ms. Sorohan and Ms. Walsh were very busy in the kitchen preparing pancakes for all our children. Go raibh maith agaibh! There was a range of toppings on display – some healthy and others not so much! We hope everyone enjoyed their fill!
Ag Déanamh Pancóga Fuair mé plúr bán, uibheacha agus bainne. Mheaigh mé an plúr bán. Chuir mé an plúr agus na huibheacha sa bhabhla, le píosa beag salann. Mheasc mé an bainnne isteach sa mheascán. Chuir mé an meascán ar friochtán te. Nuair a bhí na pancóga réidh, d’ith mé iad le mil, siúcra, seacláid agus subh. Bhí siad an-bhlasta!

Grandparents Day 2016
We celebrated our annual Grandparents Day on Wednesday February 3rd. Grandparents, parents and friends of our children in 2nd and 6th class gathered in the church for a special service led by Fr. O’Connor. Each read out their beautiful and heartfelt messages to their grandparents. Grandparents play a special role in a child’s life so we love having the opportunity to honour them on occasions such as this.
Thank you to Dr. Bennett and the children from 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th classes for providing the wonderful music in the church. Thanks to Fr. O’Connor for leading the service and to the amazing Parents’ Association for providing the refreshments in the school after the service.

Oldcastle Credit Union Quiz 2016
The annual Oldcastle Credit Union Quiz was held in Gilson NS on Friday January 29th. Once again our students represented St. Fiach’s with great distinction. We achieved 2nd and 3rd place in the U11 section and 2nd place in the U13 section. All children from 3rd to 6th classes took part in the quiz and a great night was had. Thanks to Gilson NS for facilitating us and a special thanks must go to Finbar the Quizmaster
