Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!

As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.

We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.

Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

Ceolchoirm na Nollag 2015

St. Fiach’s National School’s annual Christmas concert took place on December 18th 2015 in Ballinacree Community Centre. Our junior classes (Junior infants – 2nd class) presented their performance of Hey Ewe! while our senior classes (3rd-6th) performed their version of Straw and Order!

After weeks of practice and preparation, the children sang and acted their hearts out! We are very proud of them. We hope that everyone enjoyed the night. Please enjoy the gallery:

Cumann na mBunscol 2015

Once again our boys and girls football teams represented St. Fiach’s with great pride this year. While the girls were very unlucky not to make it out of the group stages, the boys team came through their group with comprehensive wins over Ballinlough, Kilbeg and Moylagh. Two super performances saw us defeat Cortown in the quarter final and Kill in the semi final.

It was a long wait until the final in Pairc Tailteann on November 28th but it was an exciting time for the school and Ballinacree community. Unfortunately the result did not go our way on the day but our players never gave up. We are so proud of everyone for their efforts during the year especially to the children who braved the cold conditions for training sessions. Thanks to all the families and friends for supporting us on the day and a special thanks must go to the wonderful parents who put on a great reception for us in the Community Centre after the final. Thank you to Mr. Farrell, Mr. Foster and Martin Briody for taking care of the team. Roll on 2016!

Oral Health Week 2015

Following a successful Science Week, we had our Oral Health Week at St. Fiach’s. Oral healthcare is often overlooked with our children so this proved to be a very worthwhile programme. Our teeth are vital for our speech, smile and chewing food. A special thanks must go to Mary from the HSE who spoke to every class in the school about the importance of taking care of our teeth. She was delighted to see our Health Promoting Flag outside our school. It is important that we eat healthy foods and brush twice daily to keep the plague and decay away! All children received a certificate for taking part in Oral Health Week. Maith Sibh!

Presentation of Irish Flag and 1916 Proclamation

Monday November 9th 2015 was a very special day for St. Fiach’s NS. To commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising and to celebrate 100 years since the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, the Government has tasked Óglaigh na hÉireann with delivering a National Flag to every Primary School in the country. A special thanks to Lieutenant L. Sullivan and Private A. Pentony for delivering the Proclamation and Irish Flag to our school.

Our wonderful children played music and sang Amhrán na bhFiann to celebrate the occasion. Patrick and Liam had the proud honour of receiving the Proclamtion and Irish flag on behalf of the school.
