Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!

As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.

We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.

Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

Materials and Change (3rd and 4th)

3rd and 4th class students were exploring the ‘materials’ strand of the science curriculum. They engaged in many experiments and investigations, including: which materials insulate and conduct heat, what happens when force is applied to some liquids, which material cleans the coins and the outcome of mixing baking soda and vinegar.

First Holy Communion 2024

Congratulations to the students of 2nd class who received the sacrament of First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 18th. Many thanks to their teachers, Ms. Smith, Ms. Duggan and Ms. Plunkett for preparing the children so well. Special thanks to Claire and the fantastic Parents Association for organising the tea and beverages after the ceremony. Our new hall was decorated so well. Thanks again!

Science experiments (1st and 2nd)

First and Second Class were learning about air resistance. We divided into groups and designed our own parachute. Look at some of our great ideas. Why not give it a go at home.
They also made their own water guage today. Let’s hope it doesn’t get too full as the weather shines for us.

Donohoe’s Farm Visit

Dessie Donohoe kindly offered for us to visit his farm as we are learning about the farm in First and Second Class this term. We fed the sheep, saw some ducks and we also got to hold some pet lambs. The best part was pretending we were sheep in the crush!! The children really enjoyed their visit. Thanks to the Donohoe family.

World Champions – Irish Dancing
