Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!

As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.

We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.

Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

Gibney Steel Products Visit

Today 5th and 6th class had the fantastic opportunity to visit the busy factory of Gibney Steel Products, Drumone, Co. Meath. Gibney’s is a family run business  in our local area that designs and manufactures steel products. The children first observed the design process on the computers which is then sent down to the factory floor to be made. They then saw the laser cutting in action and the bending and welding of steel. Many children recognised many products that they themselves have on their farms.

We had a brilliant day being shown the hustle and bustle of an engineering company. We especially loved the surprise of our own steel crest keyring. What a treat!

Japan (3rd and 4th)

Kon’nichiwa from 3rd & 4th Class! Using our new laptops in school and working at home, we spent the last 6 weeks researching, preparing editing our projects for presentation on Tuesday. From Sport & Geography to Gaming & Deadly Delicacies we learned I much from each other. With flights at around €1000 and a travel time of over 15 hours, we might just have to say Sayōnara to Japan as a school tour destination for this year!

Maths (6th Class)

6th Class have been busy learning about VAT, interest and the workings of bank accounts. Some very practical skills to have.
