Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!

As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.

We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.

Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

Engineers Week 2022

5th and 6th Class were busy designing and creating marble runs in pairs. Like any engineer, they were given a design criteria: two towers, a bridge, a clear beginning and end and no bigger than the desk. The children brought their design ideas together and came up with their first plan. They brainstormed the design, the materials and how they were going to construct their run using those materials. Although each group came across many different design and construction challenges along the way, everyone was successful in creating a functioning marble run.                                                                                                    On completion of the project, we invited other class groups in to test them out. Lots of fun was had by all.

The 5th and 6th class students also designed and made their own projects at home.

Mexico (1st and 2nd)

The students in Mr. Farrell’s classroom were learning about Mexico last week. They became familiar with Mexican clothes and pastimes. Tacos were also on the menu! Thanks to Miguel for sharing his wonderful presentation with us.

Briody Bedding Visit

Our senior classes visited one of our local businesses, Briody Bedding. The children had the opportunity to see the factory in operation. From the stitching of material and the layering of different foam to the packaging and labelling, the children gained a fantastic understanding of how a mattress is created. So much work goes into making our cosy beds. Thanks to all the staff at Briody Bedding for showing us around.
