Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!

As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.

We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.

Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

Aquaculture Remote Classroom

On Tuesday morning, 5th and 6th class took part in the ARC Webinar. ARC stands for Aquaculture Remote Classroom and its aim is to raise awareness about aquaculture.

Topics covered in the ARC Webinar:

The origins of seafood
The role of Aquaculture on a global scale
The role of Aquaculture on a local level
The role of Aquaculture on a personal level (health & nutrition)
At the end of the webinar, the children took part in a short quiz based on their learning and we conducted a survey about the fish we eat and how often.
*Remember, always try support local, responsible and sustainable farming when shopping.

Irish Wildlife Projects (5th and 6th)

As part of our Green Schools (Biodiversity) flag 5th and 6th Class selected an Irish animal of their choice to research. The children focused on their animal’s appearance, habitat, diet and  distribution around Ireland. Using both PowerPoint and Canva to create their projects, the children presented their projects to the class.  Awareness is a major part of the Biodiversity Flag and this was a great step towards becoming aware of the wonderful creatures that live among us on our beautiful island.

Cycle Right

Our 5th and 6th class students are continuing the Cycle Right programme. They are really enjoying the experience.

Perspective Art (5th and 6th)

5th and 6th Class have been working on developing their drawing skills. Perspective and shading can change a drawing completely and I think that we can all see that these look fantastic. Well done everyone!
