Fáilte go Scoil Naomh Fiach!

As Principal of St. Fiach’s N.S., I am thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and close-knit school community. Nestled in Ballinacree, our school is a place where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. At St. Fiach’s, we celebrate the individuality of each student, helping them develop into confident and compassionate individuals, fully aware of their unique talents and role in the world.

We are especially proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence, participation in sports and the arts, and our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like the Green Flag program. Our dedicated staff fosters a spirit of curiosity and creativity, guiding students through a range of enriching activities, from Seachtain na Gaeilge Week to Active Week celebrations, where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Our Catholic ethos inspires us to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their faith, develop lasting friendships, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Tá sé mar aidhm againn cabhrú le gach páiste a bheith sásta agus muiníneach, agus muid ag forbairt ár gcreideamh mar phobal láidir agus tacúil.

Go raibh míle maith agat as do spéis, agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as d’eolas a fháil faoi Scoil Naomh Fiach.

Road Safety Authority

Special thanks to Nicola Walsh from RSA for providing wonderful online programmes to all our classes. Our children were reminded of the importance of all aspects of road safety when walking, cycling or driving. The Seatbelt Sheriff and Hi-Glo Silver programmes (1st and 2nd) were also consolidated. Our students engaged excellently with Nicola and they really enjoyed the Zoom call. Thanks again Nicola.

Assembly – January 2022

We had 2 lovely assemblies last week to round off the winter months! Maith sibh Gaeilgeoirí na míosa! Keep up the good work everyone! It looks like extra-curricular activities will be opening up again over the next few weeks so we look forward to hearing about all achievements in future assemblies!

Beautiful Butter! (3rd and 4th)

When learning about the Vikings, we saw that one of the craftspeople’s skills was churning butter. We decided, as a science experiment, we would try and make our own butter. We needed plastic bottles, cream, salt, bread and a toaster. We poured around 100ml of cream into the bottle, added a pinch of salt and shook vigorously for approximately one minute. While our butter was taking shape we made toast. Mr. McHugh cut our bottles open and we were amazed to see butter inside, although we didn’t love the smell! Thankfully it tasted a lot better than it smelled and we enjoyed our delicious homemade butter on toast. YUM!
